Bazaar.in Payment, Settlement, Payout, Reserve and Chargeback Policy
Buyer collections, Seller eligibility, 5-7 day payouts, reserves, adjustments and chargebacks
1. Purpose and Payment Structure
1.1Bazaar.in provides the Platform, including marketplace technology, administration, support, verification and related services. Bazaar.in is not treated as the product seller unless expressly identified as seller of record for a transaction.
1.2References to Bazaar.in, the Platform, we, us or our mean Bazaar.in.
1.3Buyer payments may be collected through authorized payment providers. Bazaar.in is not represented as a bank, payment system or regulated escrow provider unless the actual licensed arrangement permits that description. The Legal Department must align this Policy with the payment-partner contract.
2. Collection and Seller Entitlement
2.1Buyer payment to an authorized collection provider discharges the Buyer to the extent shown as successful. Seller entitlement arises only after the order becomes eligible, not when the Buyer places the order.
2.2Funds remain subject to payment-provider rules, taxes, fees, VMS claims, refunds, reserves, chargebacks, fraud controls and legal orders.
3. Settlement Trigger and Eligibility
3.1For each item, T is the later of successful delivery or pickup confirmation, expiry of the applicable return-claim window, and completion of any pending VMS review for that item.
3.2Eligibility also requires completed KYC, no unresolved legal prohibition, valid payout account and no proportionate hold. Mixed orders may settle item by item.
4. Seller Payout Cycle
4.1Bazaar.in will ordinarily initiate the eligible Seller payout within five (5) to seven (7) Business Days after T. Business Day excludes Saturday, Sunday and applicable bank/public holidays.
4.2Bank or payment-provider posting time after initiation is outside the cycle. A delay beyond the cycle must relate to a stated VMS claim, dispute, chargeback, fraud review, KYC issue, reserve, legal restriction, tax issue, banking failure or force majeure event.
5. Statements, Fees and Tax
5.1Each payout statement must identify order value, taxes, commission, payment fee, shipping, refunds, TDS/TCS, reserve and other adjustments. Sellers must have an electronic reconciliation and dispute route.
5.2Only fees in an accepted fee card or service schedule may be deducted. Retroactive fee changes do not apply to completed orders unless law requires them.
6. Returns, Refund Adjustments and VMS
6.1The Video Management System (VMS) is Bazaar.in's controlled system for capturing, uploading, timestamping, storing, integrity-checking, retrieving and reviewing claim videos and related evidence. VMS may associate video evidence with order, catalogue, payment, delivery, pickup, product, packaging, shipping-label, serial/SKU, seller, account and fraud-risk information.
6.2Except where applicable law requires another remedy, returns will be entertained only when a product is received damaged or an incorrect product is delivered. An incorrect product means the product, model, variant, size, colour, quantity or SKU does not match the confirmed order. Change-of-mind, preference, fit, compatibility, accidental post-delivery damage and no-longer-needed claims are not eligible.
6.3No return is approved until VMS records a decision. VMS must record the evidence considered, outcome, reason, responsible reviewer and timestamp. Bazaar.in may request reasonable evidence, arrange pickup or inspection, and use manual review. The absence of one evidence type, including an unboxing video, will not by itself defeat a remedy required by law.
6.4The Buyer and Seller will receive the decision and a reason for rejection. Either may request grievance review within the stated period. Fraudulent, altered, swapped, unrelated or serial-mismatched returns may be rejected and may lead to account restriction, recovery and lawful reporting.
6.5A Seller deduction for return or refund requires a VMS approval, final payment dispute or mandatory legal remedy and must be itemized. Liability is allocated to the party whose act, omission or custody caused the loss.
7. Reserves
7.1A reserve must be proportionate to reasonably expected refund, chargeback, fraud, tax or legal exposure and supported by a documented risk basis. Notice should state amount or percentage, reason, start date, review interval and release criteria.
7.2Reserves must be reviewed periodically and released when the documented exposure ends, less valid adjustments. Emergency confidentiality exceptions must be narrow and legally justified.
8. Holds, Negative Balances and Set-Off
8.1A payout hold must be limited to proportionate exposure. Material holds should disclose amount, reason, review status and escalation where permitted.
8.2Bazaar.in may set off undisputed or finally determined amounts against payouts and reserves. Negative balances require an itemized statement and reasonable dispute period. Unrelated funds should not be held beyond expected exposure.
9. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
9.1Seller liability applies where a chargeback results from Seller fraud, non-delivery, incorrect fulfilment, misrepresentation, product breach or missing evidence within Seller control. Platform, provider or carrier fault remains with the responsible party.
9.2The Seller should receive the available dispute basis and evidence deadline, subject to payment-network timelines. Duplicate refund and chargeback recovery is prohibited.
10. Fraud, Regulation and Final Settlement
10.1Bazaar.in may freeze proportionate funds during documented fraud, KYC, sanctions, tax or legal review and may report matters as required. Investigation records must be access-controlled.
10.2After termination, valid liabilities, reserves, refunds and chargebacks may be retained for the documented exposure period. Remaining eligible funds must be released with a final statement.
11. Audit, Liability and Disputes
11.1Sellers must preserve order, payment, refund and tax records and cooperate with proportionate audits. Bazaar.in must maintain settlement records and correct confirmed errors.
11.2Indirect loss is excluded to the extent lawful, but this does not excuse payment of valid eligible proceeds or liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or non-excludable duty. Disputes use reconciliation, escalation and a neutral legal process.
